Tips on Buying RC Boats
By Jill Andrew

How do you know which among the remote control boats is the best? Which one best fits your personality and lifestyle? Do you go for the fastest boats or do you go for those that require little maintenance?

It can really be quite frustrating for a budding boat hobbyist to choose what RC boat is best for him. There are way too many models and styles that make deciding a difficult task. If you are one of the many who are starting their hobby on remote control boats, you must read on the following tips to help you choose the best boat for you:

Before you go to a toy store, you must first do your research on your boat of choice. Surf the internet for models and styles; ask your friends which they prefer best. It is important to narrow down your choices so that you will not tire yourself from comparing each RC boat.

Choose what power will supply your remote control boats. Should you rely on gasoline, nitro methane or electric engines? Gas and nitro engines have greater jolts of speed. They can run as fast as forty miles per hour. However, these models need to be refueled every time. If you want to save on fuel, choose electric engines that run using batteries. These are good alternatives of nitro engines, but they do not run as fast as the former. If you are not concerned with speed, electric engines are a great choice for remote control boats.

If you choose to buy electric boats, you can ensure that fun is not brought to an end by bringing along extra battery packs. It is also wiser to just buy rechargeable batteries and a charging unit that you can plug into your vehicle.

Many believe that electric remote control boats are the best because they do not have too many parts to maintain; they also have less chances of breaking down. This is a thought you should keep in mind. The size of your watercraft should depend on its proportion to an actual boat. Sizes are determined through scales. If you choose a scale of 1:19, your boat is smaller by nineteen times. Bigger scales require more fuel and power.

If you happen to be enthused by older boats, you can choose different styles derived from these. Modern boats are also available for you. The design should depend on your taste and personality.
